Jenkins has a remarkable collection of plants in the heath family (Ericaceae), including rhododendrons, azaleas, and mountain laurels. Our Rhododendron and Kalmia collections received accreditation from the American Public Gardens Association / USDA Plant Collections Network.

We are committed to preserving rare and unique plants that are native to the eastern United States, especially in the genus Rhododendron. Our gardens serve as a bank for the genetic material of these special plants.

Jenkins’ staff led virtual tours through the gardens highlighting a different theme each walk, such as a behind the scenes nursery tour, native rhododendrons, invasive plants, and spring ephemeral wildflowers.
