The Varieties of Mycological Experience
Thursday, July 15, 7:00 – 8:30 pm
Presented by Doug Bierend, freelance writer and author of In Search of Mycotopia: Citizen Science, Fungi Fanatics, and the Untapped Potential of Mushrooms
Around the country, growing numbers of people are discovering the many wonders and possibilities posed by fungi. But beyond providing food, medicine, sustainable materials, innovative remediation techniques, and enchanted forest outings, the under-examined kingdom of fungi also offer unexpected opportunities to reconsider how we connect with nature, and with one another. Get introduced to a diverse community of citizen scientists, basement cultivators, independent entrepreneurs, communitarian naturalists, artists, tinkerers, and others who are working to foster fungal fellowship and hopes for a more reciprocal, sustainable world.
Co-sponsored by Tredyffrin Township Libraries’ Arbo-READ-um partnership.
