You are cordially invited to join the Jenkins Arboretum Legacy Society.
The Society recognizes the Arboretum's Friends and Benefactors who have made commitments to its future.

A Gift for the Future

A bequest is one of the easiest ways to provide future support to Jenkins Arboretum. Remembering the Arboretum in your will ensures that generations to come will benefit from the preservation of 46-acres of rapidly disappearing natural environment. Your gift will protect natural habitats, watershed, and a treasured public botanical garden in this complex woodland ecosystem.

The Jenkins Arboretum Legacy Society

Jenkins Arboretum has established the Jenkins Arboretum Legacy Society to honor donors who have chosen to support the Arboretum through a bequest in their will or through a planned gift. Everyone can make a bequest to the Arboretum.

As a Jenkins Arboretum Legacy Society member you will enjoy the following benefits:

The Jenkins Arboretum

Jenkins Arboretum is a carefully planned botanical garden established in 1968 through a bequest from H. Lawrence Jenkins to preserve the property as a public garden to be enjoyed for its natural beauty as well as used for horticultural and scientific study. The Arboretum is committed to conserving 46 acres of the once bountiful Pennsylvania woodland and nurtures one of the state's major horticultural showcases of native trees, shrubs, rhododendrons, azaleas, laurel, blueberries, ferns and wildflowers.

Our mission is that Jenkins Arboretum is to be preserved in perpetuity as a place of natural beauty for the enjoyment of the public, as a living example of natural systems and the value of open space, and as an asset to the community through the pursuit of excellence in botanical display, research, and education.

The Arboretum serves as a public open-air recreational, educational and environmental model for the appreciation and stewardship of nature. It is a model for others to follow. With plant walks, horticultural lectures, workshops, tours and special events offered by the Arboretum, each visitor has a personally tailored, meaningful experience and is deeply enriched. The Arboretum continues to grow and thrive because of the many wonderful and dedicated people who have donated their time and resources.

Every year visitors stroll the 1.2 miles of woodland paths in the Arboretum and leave with inspiration for their own gardens and for their artwork. People are humbled by the strength and beauty of nature here. Spirits are renewed and sustained by the tranquility offered in this botanical sanctuary.

Importance of Bequests

Providing a bequest to Jenkins Arboretum is a meaningful way to ensure that its significant plant collections and many specialized programs continue to prosper. It is a gift that keeps on giving. An unrestricted bequest allows the gift to be applied where the need is greatest.
